A Collection

Citizen

There is joy beyond
The paper walls of fear
They scream I’m stuck here, when,
The strife is over

Dwelling now in the dawn
I’ll never again dread the night
For I am Yours
And You are mine

Kathmandu

We were walking
Down flights of stair
Into the unknown
I hear their laugh
I feel their footsteps
The worst was over
The rails were blue

Now I’ve come to become
Myself anew
The thunderstorm has passed
Can you taste the dew?

Reep

What to do, who to be?
I’d lost myself, you see
Now we’re discovering
That all worth something
Lies in the land
Beyond the sea

From Delhi to Nepal

White sheets
As we travel on
Life she is a wanderer
Confused in her slumber
Dreams of hope
Terrors of evening scopes
Tell me, where will we go
When all is finally lost?

Let the rain fall
Pour over these bones
Take me home
To where I belong
Safe in his arms.

Dusty toes
As dusk settles in
Joy she is a ghost
Changing shapes as of Heaven
She sings to our souls
We are golden, immortal
Journeying through all
This earth we’re meant to know enjoy.

So let the rain fall
Soak life into these bones
Where You lead, I’ll follow
Though I feel I drown
I will grow.

Let the rain fall
Pour over these bones
Take me home
While I feel I drown
I will grow.

Return to the Garden

Here You find meweek five (7 of 33)
Broken and restored
Here You hold m
Wholly abandoned to Your love

Fighting and tired
I lay in the mire
You rescue me, wash me clean
Till I am white as snow

Striving against gloryweek five (5 of 33)
Giving fear my soul
On silver plates of agony
Feeding deception’s monster

In righteous fury
On clouds of fire
You race in, a rushing wind
Of jealous adoration, pure and holy

In Your arms I find myselfweek five (2 of 33)
Clothed in righteousness not my own
The beast is slain, set in dust evermore
And You carry me Home.

Here You find me
Broken and restored
Here You hold me
Wholly abandoned to Your love

In Your arms I find myselfweek five (22 of 33)
Clothed in righteousness not my own
The beast is slain, set in dust evermore
And You carry me Home.

Harvest

Stil
Quiet
Peace
The storm has ceased
I can finally
Breathe.

Life’s a tornado
I’ve been knocked to the ground
All is steady now
Still, I’m scared to stand.

So I lean into You
Let Your words rush over me
Fall asleep
To the rhythm of Your grace
At last, I’m safe.

I’m being ground
That the spices may come out
Though the winds assail me
And oceans as bullets
From the heavens fall,
Still I rejoice
In my only God
With each earthly blow
Let the blessings flow
That all may see and know
The beauties of
Your precious Name.

September Sunrise

It’s a farewell season
On to new horizons
Heralded by autumn’s fire
With each hello this
Summer is demanding a goodbye
It seems, if not to faces
Then phases
But I’m learning
I’m okay with it.

In the quiet
Fear assaults
Ferocious doubt, like a lion
Will tear me to shreds, if not
I take the plunge, over the deep end
Into the blue abyss, swim until
My feet find land.

It is time to leave
My feet are aching
For unknown shores, dreams unseen
I will return
But for now, I must leave
This town feels small
It’s only shrinking
It is I who must grow
My feet are aching.

August.

A Daydream

Dance in the greenRevisedDSC_0027_089
Befriend the trees
“They were created for you”
He whispers
While taking my hand
Lifting me above the stars
The ones made to reflect
His eyes.

“Diamonds on the grass
New ones laid every evening
Were meant to remind you
Of your priceless worth”
He sings
Spinning me around
Catching me in His arms
Tender and secure.

As the rain begins to pour
We find shelter in the RevisedDSC_0065_097woods
As the oceans begin to rise
We find warmth behind the waterfall.
There is truth in His eyes
And in light of His Presence
All things begin making sense
His smile is my home
His embrace my surety
That all is never lost.
With golden rays of dawn
We chase the sun’s ascent
Searching for the East,
For the Land of Eternal MorningRevisedDSC_0093_109

He knows the path
He is my guide
And on these seas of life
Where the waters join the horizon
We sail across the deep azure
Singing with the gulls
Dancing with the wind
There is hope yet
Joy never ending
Adventure unceasing.

Borrowed Words (Easter Service)

RevisedMarch-April 2015 062_062

RevisedMarch-April 2015 067_067

Not in the turmoil of the raging storm,
Not in the earthquake or devouring flame;
But in the hush that could all fear transform,
The still, small whisper came.

O Soul, keep silence on the mount of God,
Though cares and needs throb around you like a sea;
From prayers, petitions, and desires unshod,RevisedMarch-April 2015 078_078
Be still, and hear what God will say to thee.

All fellowship has interludes of rest,
New strength maturing in each level of power;
The sweetest Alleluias of the blest
Are silent, for the space of half an hour.

O rest, in utter quietude of soul,
Abandon words, leave praise and prayer awhile;RevisedMarch-April 2015 072_072
Let your whole being, hushed in His control,
Learn the full meaning of His voice and smile.

Not as an athlete wrestling for a crown,
Not taking Heaven by violence of will,
But with your Father as a child sit down,
And know the bliss that follows His “Be Still!”
