Amidst the Rubble

“X marks the spot”Come in, come home

A quiet whisper

Behind the storm.
Dusty blue

A polluted sky

Always half open

To souls passing by

Always shut tight

To strangers in the night.
Cold, solid

Inviting while

Still guard standing.
From up above

Supper’s aroma wafts down

Overtaking for the evening

The putrid waste below.
Gentle onions

Caress your tongue

As the gate

Like an embrace

Pulls you in to see

Her wells of empathy.

Grey.

Coffee shop laughter
Evening skies taste cold
We are just merry outcast stones
Reminding you of lonelier souls
And so we left home.

The world turns
Meet under trees
Soon we’ll all leave
Find those lonely souls
Say you’ll remember me
When the day is done.

Left all to come here
The future’s road remains unknown
Meet me under the banyan tree
We’ll laugh at the days to come.

Mercy bearers born
Out of hometown misfits
Midnight escapades formed
Joy for endless journeys.

The world turns
Meet under trees
Soon we’ll all leave
Find those lonely souls
Say you’ll remember me
When the day is done.

Ice in the bones
Clouds overhead
Pray for rain to cool
Burning souls fighting for more.

Coffee shop laughter

We are just merry outcast stones
Reminding you of lonelier souls
And so we left home.

Return to the Garden

Here You find meweek five (7 of 33)
Broken and restored
Here You hold m
Wholly abandoned to Your love

Fighting and tired
I lay in the mire
You rescue me, wash me clean
Till I am white as snow

Striving against gloryweek five (5 of 33)
Giving fear my soul
On silver plates of agony
Feeding deception’s monster

In righteous fury
On clouds of fire
You race in, a rushing wind
Of jealous adoration, pure and holy

In Your arms I find myselfweek five (2 of 33)
Clothed in righteousness not my own
The beast is slain, set in dust evermore
And You carry me Home.

Here You find me
Broken and restored
Here You hold me
Wholly abandoned to Your love

In Your arms I find myselfweek five (22 of 33)
Clothed in righteousness not my own
The beast is slain, set in dust evermore
And You carry me Home.

Psalm 81

When we were wanderingweek five (18 of 33)
Alone and afraid
You rescued us
Kept us from shame

In pillars of smoke
In clouds of fire
You whispered Your name
You gave us hope
Daily, we sang Your praisesweek five (19 of 33)
Adoration was hourly upon our lips
Upon our lips
To the Unknown God who saves
New moon rises
Sound the horn
We were lost and lonely souls
Now we’re found in You, Lord
Then as a storm, fear roseweek five (20 of 33)
Thunderclouds swallowing hope
Stealing breath from our lungs, so from Your arms
We run, run, run
And You say
Darling, come home
Darling, come home
Taste My love once more
Remember when you were lost and lonelyweek five (24 of 33)
In My arms, I carried you to safety
We lived in harmony
My bride and I
I long to drench you
In My love, fill your cup
I long to hold you
In My holy embrace
Remember how I led you
Through the desertweek five (32 of 33)
Pillars of smoke, clouds of fire
Singing joy to you all the while
Why have you gone?
Let Me hold you again
You’re tired and afraid
Let me keep you safe from harm
I’ll keep you safe from harm
Darling, come homeweek five (28 of 33)
Darling, come home
Darling, come hom
Taste My love once more.

Harvest

Stil
Quiet
Peace
The storm has ceased
I can finally
Breathe.

Life’s a tornado
I’ve been knocked to the ground
All is steady now
Still, I’m scared to stand.

So I lean into You
Let Your words rush over me
Fall asleep
To the rhythm of Your grace
At last, I’m safe.

I’m being ground
That the spices may come out
Though the winds assail me
And oceans as bullets
From the heavens fall,
Still I rejoice
In my only God
With each earthly blow
Let the blessings flow
That all may see and know
The beauties of
Your precious Name.

September Sunrise

It’s a farewell season
On to new horizons
Heralded by autumn’s fire
With each hello this
Summer is demanding a goodbye
It seems, if not to faces
Then phases
But I’m learning
I’m okay with it.

In the quiet
Fear assaults
Ferocious doubt, like a lion
Will tear me to shreds, if not
I take the plunge, over the deep end
Into the blue abyss, swim until
My feet find land.

It is time to leave
My feet are aching
For unknown shores, dreams unseen
I will return
But for now, I must leave
This town feels small
It’s only shrinking
It is I who must grow
My feet are aching.

Rabbit Hole War Base

A quiet little rabbit hole
Come hear His Name
Sweet truths proclaimed
War preparations you’ll see
Defenses for those who can no longer fight
Through the darkness to see the light.

We’ve been deemed insane, once or twice
“There’s no battle coming
The only fight’s inside your mind”
We’ve been told times before
But now
The veil is tearing, revealing
Monsters hiding behind
Seemingly beautiful smiles.

Darling, come in!
There’s room, always room
Let Him hide you
Let Him heal you
The war’s been waged
And you find yourself caught
On the wrong side
He’s reaching, reaching
For you
Will you let His children
Help carry you out?
It will first take a leap
Recognize the cave you’re in
Beloved, it’ll be worth it
To escape those chains
Will you be carried out
Or remain in the miry pit?

We’re used to extremes
There’s no pain you can bring
From which we will shy
All we can do is turn you to Him,
The only One who heals
This is not a song of self-praise
This is a statement of faith
We are more than is seen
We are the quiet underground
Working to save lost and lonely souls
Caught in the raging sea.

Tuesday Night Conversations

We’ve all our own burdens, our own trauma, we carry on our backs. All broken hearts are equally broken, whether by a mallet or small stone; they lay shattered just the same. If you’re anything like me, you are well aware that compared to the horrors of this world, it was a tiny pebble that crushed your soul. Darling, your pain is valid. You are allowed to be hurt, you are allowed to heal.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Little bird
I see you fighting
Your wings are clipped
By devices not your own
Now where feathers once were
Burdens instead you carry
Pain has taught you to fear
Even hands reaching out
To relieve you of weights
Too mighty for your
Young shoulders
The walls are up
Would you let Him in?
He’s been there, too
He knows the scars
He knows the fear
Would you let Him in?
Fresh wings He’ll bring you
No more fighting to loose
Burdens only digging deeper
I’m aware these words are pale
This one’s just for me and you
Little bird
You’ve tasted bits of freedom
Of what life could be,
Darling, please
Let Him take you home
We’ll be here waiting
Arms open, heart singing
Little bird, it’s time
Let the walls down
Let the Lovelight shine.
